Congressman Bill Johnson Discusses the New Congress and the Challenges That Lie Ahead
Congressman Bill Johnson of Ohio's 6th District discusses what it will mean to be in the minority in the 116th Congress that will be sworn in on January 3rd, as the Democrats and Nancy Pelosi take the gavel. After eight years of Republicans controlling the House of Representatives, Republicans will now have to play defense against a socialist-leftist agenda that will be pushed by Nancy Pelosi and the hard Left of the Democratic Party.
Part 2 - Greg Lawson, Senior Research Fellow of Buckeye Institute lays out the challenges that Governor-Elect Mike DeWine and his administration will face in 2019. Infrastructure capital is gone that was created with the lease of the Ohio Turnpike. Talk of an increase in the Ohio gas tax will be on the table in the new General Assembly. Other economic challenges with the close of coal-fired generating plants on the Ohio River and the scheduled closing of two of Ohio's nuclear power plants will mean tens of thousands of jobs lost, not to mention the possible closure of the Lordstown auto plant. The new administration will face serious challenges with these economic realities in the next few years that will dramatically affect Ohio's economy.
