OCA President Chris Long discusses with Barry Sheets of Principled Policy Consulting the final wraps on the 131st Ohio General Assembly in the closing hours of the lame duck session, including the surprise development in the Ohio Senate to add the Heart Beat Bill into an appropriations amendment, the passage of S.B. 172 - the Pain Capable Unborn Child Protection Act, and the Ohio Pastor Protection Act that did not come up for a floor vote and will need to be reintroduced in the the G.A. in 2017.

On this News in Focus, we discuss Ohio's Pastors Protection Act, legislation that protects pastors and churches from potential lawsuits from homosexual activists seeking to force their lifestyle on the church. The legislation that was introduced earlier this year by State Rep. Nino Vitale and 24 cosponsors has been commended as solid religious freedom legislation by several constitutional legal groups. The bill has had three hearings in committee, but has been stalled by Chairman, Rep. Tim Ginter. Dozens of clergy came in from across the State of Ohio to testify in support of the bill, yet the bill is stalled in committee. OCA President Chris Long discusses in detail the legislation with the bill's sponsor, Rep. Nino Vitale.
